The GUS Vertical-Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT) silently and efficiently converts wind energy into electricity. The unique vertical-axis, double-helix blade design makes it a versatile, reliable and efficient way to produce pollution-free, renewable power day and night.

  • Produces up to 50% more electricity on an annual basis than conventional turbines with the same swept area
  • Generates electricity in winds as low as 4 mph (1.5 m/s) and continues to generate power in wind speeds up to 130 mph (60m/s), depending on the model
  • Withstands extreme weather such as frost, ice, sand, humidity and winds greater than 130 mph (60 m/s)
  • Requires almost no maintenance thanks to a sealed unit design with no gearbox
  • Makes no sound and eliminates the strobing effect with its non-reflecting surfaces, so it is easy on the eyes and ears
  • Uses a wildlife-friendly narrow-design profile—birds perceive the GUS as a solid object and avoid it
  • Comes in sizes from 75 W to 1000 W and can be custom-painted and -branded

EfstonScience stands behind (and under) its products

We were so impressed with this innovative, Canadian-made product that we installed an ePole with a GUS Vertical-Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) at the EfstonScience SuperStore. Our new ePole Hybrid Wind+Solar LED Streetlight produces up to 1000 W, enough to run our signage and lights with power to spare.

Our installation features:

  • 35′ spun-concrete pole
  • GUS 2 Vertical Axis Wind Turbine – 8.5′ tall x 2.5′ diameter blades
  • 8′ aluminum arm with LED streetlight fixture
  • SHARP solar panels on an articulating rack mount that can be positioned to face south
  • Two 4-foot LED wall washer lights to illuminate a 30′ W x 20′ H wall sign
