ePole Hybrid Off-Grid LED Streetlight

The EfstonScience ePole is a completely self-contained, off-grid streetlight that requires no wiring or trenching. This environmentally responsible solution uses solar and wind power to generate electricity; integrated batteries for storage; and bright, energy-efficient light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to replace traditional sodium vapour bulbs. Compared to traditional streetlights, each zero-emission ePole will save thousands of dollars in installation, electricity and maintenance costs and offset more than 12 tonnes of CO2 over its 30-year lifetime.

The self-powered ePole costs nothing to operate, saving hundreds of dollars in electricity costs every year.
Installation is simple: The self-contained, direct-burial spun-concrete pole requires no trenching, base or wiring.
The ultra-efficient LED bulb produces as much light as sodium vapour bulbs with 1/10 the power consumption.
LED bulbs last for 70,000+ hours– that’s every night for 24 years!
Sealed solar batteries in the base store enough power to provide light for 2 to 3 days with no wind or sun.
Programmable sensors allow you to schedule when lights turn on and off.
ePole: The ePole Hybrid Wind+Solar Off-Grid LED Streetlight is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional street lighting systems. The ePole uses both wind and solar power to generate electricity for ultra-efficient, high-output LED lighting.
Wind power: The spun-concrete pole is equipped with a GUS Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) and a positionable solar array. The GUS turbine silently harnesses wind from any direction, regardless of changes in direction and gusting. Its attractive, slim profile captures 50% more power than comparable propeller designs.
Solar power: The solar panels are fastened to an articulating arm that can be positioned to take advantage of as much sunlight as possible. All of the power generated is stored in sealed batteries located at the base of the pole—enough to power the streetlight for 2 to 3 days without recharging.
Light-emitting diode (LED): Light is provided by a high-efficiency 57 Watt LED bulb array that is as bright and intense as traditional sodium vapour bulbs. Yet the LED bulb array uses only 1/10 the power and is rated to last over 70,000 hours. Light-sensitive switches automatically turn the LED bulb array on and off. Or you can schedule when the light turns on and off with optional programmable controllers.
Charge Controllers: These controllers regulate the power flow to and from the batteries, guarding against over- and under-charging and maximizing battery performance and lifespan.
Installation and maintenance: You can install the ePole quickly and easily, because its self-contained design requires no trenching, wiring or external services. The ePole is virtually maintenance-free and requires no greasing of the turbine or changing of bulbs. Simply replace the batteries every 5 to 7 years (under normal operating conditions).
